# Innovation Meets Independence: VertaCat Recognized at WAWABILITY Event

VertaCat received the inaugural ["Innovator of the Year" award at WAWABILITY 2025](https://www.wawability2025.com/summit), recognizing the adaptive golf cart's impact on golfers with mobility challenges.
The award came at WAWABILITY's technology summit in Washington, D.C., where industry leaders and disability advocates gathered to showcase innovations that restore independence.
The recognition highlights what VertaCat users already know: when you face mobility challenges from spinal cord injuries, strokes, and progressive diseases, the best solution lets you keep your independence and continue participating in the activities you love.
## WAWABILITY: Where Ability Takes Center Stage
WAWABILITY 2025 marked the 35th anniversary of the [Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)](https://www.ada.gov/), the civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on disability.
Since 1990, the ADA has changed American society by requiring accessible buildings, transportation, and public spaces while making sure there are equal opportunities in employment and education.
This legislation opened doors that had been closed for generations.
Organizations like WAWABILITY celebrate the ADA's legacy while pushing for continued progress. [Warren "Wawa" Snipe](https://www.wawability2025.com/wawas-world), a deaf performer who faced countless barriers in his entertainment career, created the event to showcase what people with disabilities can achieve.

## VertaCat's Recognition: More Than an Award
VertaCat received the “Innovator of the Year" award at WAWABILITY's Technology Exhibit, earning recognition for reconnecting people with mobility limitations to the activities that define them.

Users maintain their full swing motion. They keep pace with other golfers. But the device works for more than golf. Users explore beaches, go hunting and fishing, ride trails, or simply cruise their neighborhoods.
The technology can serve millions of potential users, including paraplegics, stroke survivors, and amputees. Each person gains access to outdoor activities they thought were lost forever.

## Changing Lives Through Technology and Community
WAWABILITY's recognition reflects what happens when adaptive technology solves real problems and helps people keep doing what they love.
