Technology & Performance
-
Is the VertaCat safe to use on hills?
Yes. Safety is built into the engineering through our "Cat Smart" features. The VertaCat includes an automatic electromagnetic braking system that locks the vehicle in place the moment you stop, even on a steep incline. It also features a built-in accelerometer that chirps if you exceed a 17% grade and provides a faster warning at a 26% grade to ensure you stay within safe operating limits.
-
How do I adjust my position once I’m in the standing position?
Unlike other mobility riders that require you to back up and "re-approach" your ball or target, VertaCat features Pivot-In-Place Positioning Technology. This allows for micro-adjustments in place, so you can fine-tune your stance or angle with precision without moving the entire unit.
-
Will the standing mechanism irritate my skin or cause "sliding"?
No. We developed an exclusive "Friction-Free" Stand-Up Assist. It uses specially designed padded chest, waist, and knee straps that move with you as you rise. This eliminates the "jostling" and skin friction often found in traditional stand-up wheelchairs, positioning you directly and comfortably above the ball.
-
Can I switch the controls if I am left-handed?
Yes. The high-performance joystick and six-button fingertip control panel are completely modular. They can be effortlessly switched from the right armrest to the left without the need for any tools.
-
Will the VertaCat damage the grass on a golf course?
The VertaCat is specifically designed to be "Golf-Green-Safe." It is equipped with three extra-wide, lightly-treaded tires that distribute weight evenly. These tires provide enough traction for hills but are soft enough to ensure they won't leave marks on even the most delicate greens.
-
What safety features prevent the unit from tipping or jerking?
VertaCat includes several automated safety modulations:
-
Anti-Jerk Acceleration: Smooths out starts and stops for a comfortable ride.
-
Fast Turn Speed Modulation: Automatically reduces your speed when making sharp turns to maintain stability.
-
Closed Loop Control: Ensures the unit tracks in a perfectly straight line and reduces fishtailing on uneven terrain.
-
Crawl Speed Mode: When the stand-up assist is elevated, the VertaCat automatically restricts movement to "crawl speed" for maximum safety.

-
What makes the VertaCat motors different from a standard wheelchair?
VertaCat uses Dual Commercial-Grade, High-Torque Electric Motors. While standard wheelchairs are built for flat surfaces, our powerhouse system is designed for the long haul—providing more torque than you’ll ever need to handle sand, rough, and hills with ease.
